The Master Plan: Building a World-Class Learning Hub in Pecos
What is this list?
This Master Wish List represents our full vision. We believe the children of Pecos deserve access to the same high-tech, professional-grade tools found in big-city academies. We aren't just buying toys; we are investing in tools. We are moving beyond "pretend" and giving our students real-world experience—from the lost skills of constructing crystal radios, designing pottery, and food prep to using modern computer strategies for the 21st century and 3D printers for creating new designs.
This wish list supports our four specialized clubs, designed for children ages 12 and under:
1. The STEM Lab (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math)
Manager: David Cunningham
This is where we build the future. We are moving beyond basic blocks to Advanced Robotics and Radio Physics.
The Goal: A lab stocked with VEX and Makeblock robotics for engineering competitions, and a dedicated electronics station where students build their own working Crystal Transistor radios from scratch.
2. The Junior Entrepreneurs (Math, Writing, Speaking)
Manager: David Cunningham
We don't just play "store"; we teach the supply chain.
The Goal: A fully functional "Pop-Up Shop" infrastructure. Students use commercial-grade equipment (like cast-iron citrus presses and ice cream makers) to manufacture products, and real point-of-sale systems to track revenue and learn financial literacy.
3. The Media Club (Reading, Writing, Speaking)
Manager: Libby Cunningham
In the digital age, communication is power. We are building a studio, not just a classroom.
The Goal: A "Newsroom" environment featuring a green screen, studio lighting, teleprompters, and editing bays. Students will learn to film, edit, and broadcast their own stories using industry-standard tools.
4. The Integrated Arts Studio (Music & Visual Arts)
Manager: Libby Cunningham
Creativity requires the right canvas. We are combining traditional fine arts with modern tech.
The Goal: A space that hums with creativity. From a pottery wheel and kiln for 3D art to electric keyboards, guitars, and a massive Touch Screen Smart Display for digital design.
Thank you for helping us turn this vision into a reality for the Little Scholars of Pecos!
